Generally, essay writing is considered to be an art, but this is not so true. It is a source of communication as individuals share their ideas through writing. In other words, it is non-verbal communication, and for business, it is really important to write a perfect easy effective business communication.

For logical work following essay format is recommended for every sort of business essay writing. It is not compulsory to add all the components, just include those as per your requirements.

Introduction

Sketch your understanding of your essay question and note down how you will elaborate on it. Your objectives are the scope of your writing; make sure that you have highlighted your objectives. For the convenience of the reader define properly the business terms that you have used in your essay.

Background

If you are working on a case study, add a theoretical background of the organization that you want to discuss in your essay.

Findings

Provide references to all the sources you have gathered; you have to perform a detailed analysis of your topic. Make sure that you have collected enough literature from different authors to support your findings and also try to provide enough reasons to argue against your topic.

Show similarities and dissimilarities and also express your independent thoughts by giving your views. Arrange your ideas orderly and write the paragraphs in such a way that they go smoothly from one paragraph to another. You have to provide citations and references in your text.

If you are paraphrasing your text, make sure that you have provided references at the end. It has been recommended that used 10 references for every 1000 words, but better to use references according to the see your requirements and instructions.

Conclusion

Give logical reasons, while making conclusions, and precisely take together all the discussions made in the main body of the essay. Add your views as a final result, making sure that you have answered the question accurately that was posed in the introduction. You can add recommendations at the end of the essay for further future actions.

References

If you have followed any particular referencing style, arrange your references used in the essay in alphabetical order. If you have added just the footnotes make a bibliography at the end.

TASK 1

1 Your class has attended a panel discussion of facilities which should receive money from local
authorities. You have made the notes below.
Which facilities should receive money from local authorities?
• museums
• sports centres
• public gardens
Some opinions expressed in the discussion:
“Museums aren’t popular with everybody.”
“Sports centres mean healthier people.”
“A town needs green spaces – parks are great for everybody.”
Write an essay discussing two of the facilities in your notes. You should explain which facility is more
important for local authorities to give money to, giving reasons in support of your answer.
You may, if you wish, make use of the opinions expressed in the discussion, but you should use your
own words as far as possible.

TASK 2

You must answer this question. Write your answer in 220–260 words in an appropriate style on the
separate answer sheet.
2 Your class has listened to a radio discussion about how adults can be a good influence on young
people. You have made the notes below.
Ways adults can influence how younger people behave:
• giving rules
• setting an example
• offering advice
Some opinions expressed in the discussion:
“Sometimes it’s fun to break the rules!”
“If you admire somebody, you try to behave like them.”
“Young people don’t always listen.”

Write an essay discussing two of the ways in your notes that adults can influence younger people’s
behaviour. You should explain which way you think is more effective, giving reasons to support your
answer.
You may, if you wish, make use of the opinions expressed in the discussion, but you should use your
own words as far as possible.
